The Power of The People

At United Citizens of Hawkins County, we believe in the power of community involvement to create change.

Mission Statement:

Our organization advocates for individual liberty, limited government, and empowering citizens to actively participate in preserving a Constitutional, free, and prosperous society.

Hawkins County Commissioner meetings generally run on the 4th Monday of each month (with exceptions due to holidays), so we meet the Tuesday prior at 6:00pm in order to review the Commissioner's Resolution packet, and also to host interesting speakers that are relevant to our local community.

Please refer to our Calendar for accurate meeting dates!

About Us

Before United Citizens of Hawkins County came to be, a local group called Grass Roots Patriots was responsible for spearheading the effort to establish Hawkins County, Tennessee as a Constitutional and Second Amendment Sanctuary. After a period of low political activity in the county, the group eventually began to lose active membership and momentum.

In the summer of 2023, when the Hawkins County Board of Commissioners were entertaining a Resolution to limit our property rights, we knew we had to take action quickly. We formed a new grassroots politics group - United Citizens of Hawkins County. With many of the original and experienced members of GRP carrying over to the new group, we all quickly got to work raising awareness about the County Powers Act being entertained by the Commissioners.

Through flyers, social media engagement, word-of-mouth, and other efforts, we were able to successfully raise that awareness. A large number of Hawkins County citizens gathered at the county courthouse for the Commissioner Meeting, and effectively "pushed back" against the County Powers Act Resolution.
